Doing diary comics is kind of like setting up a camera on oneself and letting it roll. If one is honest and documents what is really coming up, it's impossible to know what will be captured. Through an ever-evolving cartoon aesthetic, Bore chronicles ten years in Jason’s life through journal comics that explore the anxiety and confusion of not feeling like you belong anywhere, with stories about the nature of work, relationships, and—tragically—not fitting in at punk shows. Published out of Toronto in small batches sold at various zine fairs, or made purely to give out to friends, this collection of hard-to-find comics has been lovingly edited down from the initial eighteen-issue run into a single cohesive reading experience. Much of the artwork has been revised to present the work in the best possible light. Bore is a slow descent into depression that feels like someone trying to articulate what it's like to have their house burn down around them as it's burning down. These are difficult, open-hearted comics about despair, suicidal ideation and, ultimately, self-love..
